The online prework incorporated in C3 is designed to prepare pharmacy team members for the hands-on, in-depth training. It provides a foundational understanding of essential skills, concepts and regulatory requirements necessary for successful nonsterile compounding practices. Participants will be introduced to key topics allowing them to build the knowledge needed.

Personnel Competencies & Techniques: Hands-On Compounding Training (Days 1-3)
The first three days of C3 are designed for compounding personnel seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge in preparing customized medications to meet patient-specific needs. Through a combination of online pre-coursework and hands-on training, this course covers critical aspects of nonsterile compounding including:
- 5 Core Competencies:
- Hood Cleaning: Learn the importance of maintaining clean compounding environments to prevent contamination and ensure safety.
- Hand Hygiene: Master proper hand hygiene techniques to reduce the risk of contamination and ensure quality.
- Garbing: Understand proper garbing practices.
- Staging: Gain knowledge on how to effectively stage materials and equipment to optimize workflow and reduce errors.
- Workflow: Develop strategies for efficient workflow to enhance productivity and maintain compliance.
- Master Formulation Records (MFR) & Compounding Records (CR): Understand how to review Master Formulation Records to guide compounding procedures and accurately complete Compounding Records.
- Pharmacy Calculations: Review key calculations required for nonsterile compounding.
- Formulas & Dosage Forms: Complete and prepare multiple formulas (9 total) for a variety of dosage forms (7 different types).
- Compounding Techniques: Learn and apply common nonsterile compounding techniques, i.e., Weighing & Measuring, Mixing, Preparing Dosage Forms (ie. filling molds, packing capsules, etc.).
- Dispensing and Labelling: Discuss the critical considerations for dispensing and labelling compounded medications.

Supervisor Training: Assessments & Quality (Day 4)
Day 4's Supervisor Training focuses on assessments and quality and is designed to equip pharmacy leaders with the essential skills and knowledge needed to manage quality systems, assess staff competencies and maintain a high standard of practice.
Prerequisite: A nonsterile compounding training course (i.e., hands-on)
Course Highlights:
- Roles and Responsibilities: Understand the critical roles and responsibilities of supervisors in a pharmacy setting.
- SOP Development, Implementation and Maintenance: Gain in-depth knowledge of how to develop, implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Learn how to ensure ongoing SOP compliance and improvements.
- Staff Training & Competencies: Learn effective methods for observing, documenting and evaluating staff training and competencies. Understand how to establish a system for continuous education and skill assessment to ensure team members meet industry standards.
- Formula Development Considerations: Explore the key factors in formula development, including how to create and review Master Formulation Records (MFRs) and Compounding Records (CRs), as well as the importance of determining Beyond-Use Dates (BUDs), conducting testing and maintaining accurate records.
- Developing a Quality Program: Understand the fundamentals of designing and implementing a comprehensive quality program that ensures consistent product quality, safety and compliance.
- Investigating Complaints, Adverse Effects and Out-of-Specifications: Develop strategies for investigating complaints, adverse effects and instances of out-of-specifications (OOS) results.
Owner Workshop: Facility Design, Business & Leadership (Day 5)
The final day of C3, this comprehensive Owner Workshop is designed for pharmacy owners and managers who want to optimize their business operations, improve employee engagement and drive growth in their compounding pharmacy. Participants of Day 5 will gain valuable insights into key areas of business management from lab design to marketing strategies and cost management.

- Lab Design Considerations: Explore key factors in designing a functional and compliant compounding lab, including the pros and cons of stick-built vs. modular designs, material selection and the strategic placement of equipment.
- Employee Engagement: Understand the importance of employee engagement in the success of your pharmacy. Discuss strategies for creating a productive workforce and a positive work environment that encourages retention and high performance.
- Cost Analysis and Value-Based Pricing Strategies: Explore methods for accurately determining the costs associated with compounded prescriptions, including direct and indirect expenses, and learn how to structure pricing to reflect the unique value your pharmacy provides to patients. This module focuses on equipping participants with tools to evaluate their own cost structures and implement pricing strategies that are compliant, transparent and tailored to their individual business needs.
